May 29th, 2020 UPDATE: This is an important reminder that iCAN 2020 will only be held for long-distance mode participants and there will be no physical gathering of actual exhibition in Toronto on August 29th. Please download the following update for your reference.

INTRODUCTION
The main purpose of the event is to arrange a special occasion to emerge creativity engaged by innovators from Canada and the rest of the world while providing an opportunity towards participants to expand their activities by showcasing and promoting their inventions/new products while also achieving a new success of winning invention awards from Canada.
The event provides favorable programs: a combination of invention exhibition, educational seminar, and award ceremony for inventors, students, researchers, and entrepreneurs from both local and overseas sectors. Anyone with spectacular ideas in all categories can participate in the competition and benefit from all programs and exchange network with a diverse group of participants.
The competition sets out a goal to reach out to global community of innovators in every way possible. Participation is available either physically (in-person) or remotely (long-distance) through registration. For more details on registration procedures, refer to “Participation Method” in the Brochure.

PARTICIPATION METHOD
*IMPORTANT NOTICE: THERE WILL BE NO IN-PERSON PARTICIPATION MODE OPTION AVAILABLE FOR THIS YEAR DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC. ONLY THE LONG-DISTANCE MODE IS AVAILABLE FOR iCAN 2020.
METHOD I: In-Person Participation: physically attend iCAN 2020 Finalists’ exhibition/judging in Toronto
METHOD II: Long-Distance Participation: remotely participate in the competition by application form only
STAGE 1: THE PRELIMINARIES (Required by All Applicants)
Act 1: Request for Files above & Complete iCAN 2020 Application Form
Act 2: Submit Your Application Form by Email
STAGE 2: THE FINALS (Qualified Finalists from the Preliminaries)
Act 1: Decision to Submit a Presentation Video of the Invention/Project for Competing in the iCAN 2020 Finals ONLINE
Act 2: iCAN 2020 "The Finals" is still on August 29th where the Finals Award Winners will be announced on website/social media
METHOD II: Long-Distance Participation: remotely participate in the competition by application form only
STAGE 1: THE PRELIMINARIES (Required by All Applicants)
Act 1: Request for Files above & Complete iCAN 2020 Application Form
- complete 1 form (file) for each invention/project
- make sure to fill in all required fields in the “Personal Information” Section
- provide both written description & visuals (photos, diagrams, screenshots, etc.)
- incomplete application forms are subject to automatic disqualification
Act 2: Submit Your Application Form by Email
- submit the completed application form to [email protected] by no later than July 15th (extended deadline)
- receive a confirmation email back from the organizer after your submission
- you will further receive Preliminary Result for Gold/Silver/Bronze on or before July 30th
- qualified Finalists then decide between stopping at the Preliminaries, or proceed to the Finals (video presentation required)
STAGE 2: THE FINALS (Qualified Finalists from the Preliminaries)
Act 1: Decision to Submit a Presentation Video of the Invention/Project for Competing in the iCAN 2020 Finals ONLINE
- Submitting a video presentation is an optional choice for all Finalists
- Finalists who submit video presentations are eligible to compete for the Finals Awards
- Finalists who do not submit video presentations will only be rewarded with the Preliminary Awards (Gold, Silver or Bronze)
- Video presentation files must be submitted to the organizer by no later than August 10th
Act 2: iCAN 2020 "The Finals" is still on August 29th where the Finals Award Winners will be announced on website/social media
- iCAN 2020 "The Finals" Movie will be displayed on website/social media/YouTube (to be further announced)
- The Finalists' submitted videos/photos will be used for the Finals judging for Awards and making of the Finals movie
- After the Finals, all participants will receive their designated award packages by EMS international airmail

PAYMENT METHOD
* There are 3 methods of payment that we can accept for iCAN 2020 (updated)
1) TELEGRAPHIC WIRE TRANSFER (BANK TRANSFER)
Payment beneficiary information (bank & account information) will be provided on invoice to allow international bank transfer. All invoices will be issued via PayPal, you can correspond to the instructions mentioned in the online invoice.
2) CREDIT/DEBIT CARD PAYMENT ONLINE via PayPal Invoicing
You are also able to make the payment directly from the PayPal invoice that we issue to you after you register to the competition. You do not require a separate PayPal account if you don't have one. Directly pay for your secured invoice using your debit or credit card.
3) WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER (USING MTCN)
This is an exceptional method that applicants from countries where neither of the 2 methods above are not possible. Please contact the organizer at [email protected] if you would like to use this method to complete your invoice payment.
VENUE | North York Memorial Community Hall (Not for 2020 edition)
Public Transit or Walking
Located on the Yonge-University Subway Line, with direct access from the North York City Centre Station, in the North York City Centre. Memorial Community Hall is also steps away from North York Civic Centre.

North York Memorial Hall is located four blocks north of Sheppard Avenue on the West Side of Yonge Street. There is plenty of public parking on: North York Boulevard, Park Home Avenue, and Beecroft Road.
